The changing nature of work inevitably leads to the need for gaining new skills sets. And we believe this is a good process as it not only equips us be in active learning mode, it is also crucial for a team or institution to make progress. In addition to providing professional development for teachers, principals and other professionals, it works with students and graduates to equip them with appropriate information and pertinent skills for their future endeavours that is aligned to their individual aspirations. Pallavan Learning Systems has partnered with various organizations to provide counselling and skill training to the youth to enable them to receive gainful employment in different spheres as well as to become entrepreneurs in their own right. At present, Pallavan Learning Systems has ongoing skill development initiatives in Delhi, and Rajasthan, and the centres offer training in garment making, automotive repair, beauty culture and hair dressing, electrical wiring, computer applications, hospitality, early childhood care and education.

Druk Gyalpo’s Institute, His Majesty’s Secretariat, Paro, Bhutan

 

The philosophy of Five Areas of Development inspired a project in 2010 which eventually led to the articulation of the philosophical underpinning and establishment of The Druk Gyalpo Institute, Paro, Bhutan. It is a unique institution with a triad of centres that work together seamlessly – the Education Research Centre, Teacher Development Centre and The Royal Academy (a co-educational residential school for Grades 7- 12). It has attracted the attention of many renowned universities like Oxford University, Stanford University, and Humboldt University. Since 2016, every year, The Five Areas of Development has been recognised by HundrED (https://hundred.org/en) in Finland as one of the 100 most influential ideas in education in the world. Pallavan Learning Systems is fully involved in all aspects of work related to research, teacher development and strategic planning in the Druk Gyalpo’s Institute as well as in supporting the dissemination of DGI’s learning process to 600 plus schools in Bhutan. 

Paradise Valley Private School

 

In 2019, Pallavan Learning Systems was instrumental in designing and setting up the Paradise Valley Private School in Muscat Sultanate of Oman, an IB candidate school for the Primary Years Programme (PYP) – first of its kind Inclusive School in the Gulf region.  It continues to support the school as its Academic Partner.

In 2021, Pallavan Learning Systems supported Chiragh Junior School in Meerut to develop skills among teachers to use technology and to be mindful of nurturing the learners in the time of the pandemic. In the sudden shift to online classes it became imperative for the school to empower the teachers to become adept at using technology for making online classes engaging and effective.

In 2021, PLS also started working with the Trainers of Satya Bharti Schools of Bharti Group (Airtel) to equip them for carrying out effective engagements with teachers and using the data thus generated to be able to develop Action Research projects for school improvement. This ongoing training project is expected to impact learners in approximately 800 schools including those privately owned by Bharti Foundation and the Government.

Asia Pacific School’s Initiative

The Asia Pacific Schools Initiative is a biennial educational programme that brings together high school students of the Asia-Pacific region and their teachers to appreciate the interconnectedness of their countries and cultures, and to work towards the promotion of peaceful relations. The year-long programme in hybrid model aims to create a network of future leaders, developing and nurturing in each one of them the capacity to exercise ‘Leadership through Serene Strength’.

School Leaders’ Retreat

The School Leaders’ Retreat is a biennial programme for principals and school heads to build a foundation of shared values and create a network of leaders in the Asia-Pacific community. Even during the pandemic, PLS conducted a virtual two-day engagement ‘Leadership Through Serene Strength’ in 2020 for leaders of top Delhi NCR schools and others in India, Nepal and Bhutan. PLS  believes that if schools practice and promote ‘Leadership through Serene Strength’, it will have a multiplier effect and will spread in the community, country and region.

Philosophers’ Retreat

Pallavan Learning Systems, along with its associated organisations, is committed to creating platforms and establishing programmes that encourage the free exchange of ideas across borders. One of these platforms is the Philosophers’ Retreat. The purpose of the retreat is to bring together eminent thinkers from the field of education, government, business and civil society, to have an open discussion about the challenges in education and how the system could be equipped to ultimately benefit the learner in an ever-changing world.

India-Bhutan Youth Summit

Pallavan Learning Systems, Centre for Escalation of Peace (CEP) in collaboration with Royal Institute for Governance and Strategic Studies (RIGSS), organised the inaugural India-Bhutan Youth Summit in the Kingdom of Bhutan. The main objective of the youth summit is to enhance the ties between the youth of both countries and create an understanding of the importance of building India-Bhutan friendship. The Summit also seeks to create a pool of potential ambassadors in both countries, who will carry forward the collaboration.

Mindful Living Retreat

Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche has been engaged with Pallavan Learning Systems and its associated entities in collaboration with other organisations such as India International Centre, Delhi and Vikramashila Foundation. In 2019, Mindful Living in Practice:  Inner Peace and Joyful Living was organized where Rinpoche guided the participants through various meditation techniques that they could follow on a regular basis. In 2021, Meditation and the Mind, an online retreat was organized for participants from across the globe. How can we manage our thinking and decision-making processes to achieve mental stability and ensure that we can face any challenge? This was the main question that the workshop sought to address.
