Dear Readers,
For students looking to study abroad, according to research, the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the decision of over 48 per cent Indian students. The significantly lower return of investment in an already expensive international higher education domain coupled with further reduced chances of employability in the post COVID-19 world have a key role to play in this shift.
For students already studying abroad, far away from their homes, the pandemic has proved to be a difficult time. Life as they knew it has changed and plans they were making for their future have stalled. It has been a time for students to take stock and re-evaluate. It is not only the method of imparting education that has changed. Most students have made the transition to online learning smoothly. It is the fact that they are not able to socialise with their friends the way they used to that has proved to be a big challenge. Two students studying abroad, Arjun Doraiswami in Canada and Suhani Sharma in the UK, share their reactions and the challenges they faced adapting to this new normal.
